AR-Toolkit is a powerful tool that is used as a core framework in several mixed reality applications, which allows user interaction based on specially–tailored printed patterns. This
work allows developers to use such patterns as general-purpose, limited range 6DOF trackers in VR applications, by the integration of AR–Toolkit with VRPN, the Virtual Reality Peripheral Network. This integration provides VR developers a very simple and cheap 6DOF tracking system, with an acceptable precision that is a good measure of the position and rotation of the patterns used by the tracker. A test application is shown as example of use.
